A boy and his Pup (pg 1)
It was a magical morning as the household woke up...
it started off with Stomper, doing something he never does, jumping up on the bed and licking the boy's nose. Now Sunday morning is the boys only day to sleep in, so he was a bit grumpy and buried his head into the down pillow. 'That just wouldn't do' thought the pup as he tilted his head to one side. So he pounced onto the boy and started nibbling his ears and growling, a low affectionate growl, as incentive to get the boy out of his bed. (This is one of Stomper's favorite things to do as it usually generates a specific response he enjoys.)
As the boy buried himself deeper into the bedding, Stomper dropped to his fore arms, wiggled his tail and yipped at the boy. He bounded off the bed and disappeared out the door. It took a couple of seconds for the boy to register that Stomper had left....
In an explosion of blankets the boy jumped out of bed and stumbled after the dog. 'If that dog makes a mess, it will not be a good day for Science.' the boy thought. As he rounded the corner into the hall, Stomper's face suddenly appeared in front of his own and then he was down on his back with the pup's paws on his shoulders. It took several minutes for the boy to extract himself from the ensuing tongue bath. “I should have named you Hobb's.” the boy said.
Well he was up and with all the racket, he could hear Sir saying, “Would you two come down to breakfast.”
“No use trying to go back to bed. Come on boy.” It was at that moment that Stomper notice his favorite toy and plowed right back into the boy... “Stomper, it's not time for you to play with the bone. We need to get down stairs.” Not that the boy really wanted the pup to stop playing, but Sir HAD given a request. It took some time to get the pup to stop playing, after all it was his FAVORITE toy, and the boy was less than inclined to be forceful.
“Boys get your buts down here NOW.” The request had just become an unhappy order.
“Sir I need to walk the dog.” the boy said.
“Well get on with it. How hard can it be. I don't want brunch spoiled.”
“Yes Sir, It's very hard Sir. The pups not being to cooperative this morning.” the boy said. 'Well it is VERY HARD and he doesn't need to know that we aren't walking the pup right now.' the boy thought. “OK Stomp, we need to get you walked and down stairs to brecky ASAP. Come on.”
He turned and walked them into the bathroom.
